What is a Personal Assistant & Concierge Service? A Single Ray of Hope is personal and individualized assistance for the home or business. It is a service for busy people, executives; families and businesses or corporations with the intent of handling the day-to-day projects or special events for you. Our purpose is to free up your time! All work is handled promptly, professionally and in the manner and time that you want them done. The following information shows the diversity of our services.
For the home…..Reservations, organization, gift shopping, managing calendars, running errands, food shopping, party planning/set-up/clean-up, waiting service for home servicing, serve as liaison for service agencies such as housekeeper, lawn care, repairman; and vacation check-in service are just a few ideas of how we can help you.
For the business.....Reservations, calendar management, organizing, planning and coordinating meetings, conferences, special events, gift purchasing, running errands, Sam's Club shopping, mailings, and office or computer work. It’s having the benefit of having a person help on an as-needed basis but not having to hire them as an employee or pay employment taxes.
For business/corporations…..Employers provide this service benefit for employees to help retention and boost morale which results in employees to be less stressed and able to focus on work while at work. Running errands, shopping, meal deliveries, taking pets to the vet, and waiting service for home services are just a few ideas.
What if assistance is needed for a service not listed? Our business is about personal attention to our clients needs. The services listed are merely a brief view of the work that can be provided. Services are only limited by your imagination. We encourage you to let us know your need and chances are we can accommodate you. If we are unable to meet your needs, we will do our best to refer you to another provider.
What is your service area? Our service area is Portage/Kalamazoo, Michigan and the surrounding area. Service can be provided outside this area; however, a mileage fee will be added for excess mileage.
Unlimited service area for computer work that can be sent via the internet or parcel post for typing projects such as data entry, manuscripts, thesis, or reports (virtual assistance).

Are there membership fees or long-term contracts? We do not require a long-term contract or charge membership fees. Our services are personalized to meet the varied needs of our clients whether it is a one-time situation or a short or long-term need. However, we may require clients to sign a service agreement before the start of a project.
How much does this service cost? Rates are charged on an hourly basis. There is a one hour minimum rate for services. Rates for non-routine tasks may vary. Costs for merchandise purchased at the client’s request or services arranged through us but provided by other vendors are separate and are the client’s responsibility.
Are Gift Certificates available for purchase? Yes! "Gift of Time" Gift Certificates are available for individuals, families or businesses. Give the "Gift of Time" to your family, friends, employees and co-workers. It is a very unique gift that gives people TIME! Call 269-720-7605 to purchase this perfect gift.
How do you handle collecting money for purchases? Money for purchases to be made on the client’s behalf is required in advance. Clients are encouraged to set up a concierge expense account and write a check in advance for future expenses. Another method of payment for purchases by providing A Single Ray of Hope with a limited credit card for such purchases. These credit cards are available at most credit unions/banks and are often used for gift giving and can be allotted for very limited amounts.
How does the billing process work? Payment for services is due upon completion of services unless otherwise arranged. Payment may be required up front in some circumstances. Payments can be made in cash, check, money order or A Single Ray of Hope gift certificates.
How much advance notice is needed for requesting service? We request and appreciate 24-48 hours notice for scheduling purposes. We understand that advance notice is not always possible so we will always strive to meet your needs.
Our regular business hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. Services at other times and on holidays may be charged a higher rate.
What if I need to cancel a service? A cancelation notice of 24 – 48 hours is requested. If no notice is given, a charge of $20 will apply. Cancelations will not be allowed once perishable items have been purchased.
